Getting Started
How do I download and install Gainflow?
Gainflow is available for free on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Is Gainflow really free?
Yes — the journal is free with no limits and no ads: workouts, GPS activities, history, personal records, body measurements, goals and supplements cost nothing. Only the AI features run on a token pool, because every request costs us real money. The free plan gets 10 tokens a month, Gainflow Plus 50 a week and Max 100 a week. A message to the coach costs 1 token, a generated training plan 3, a video technique analysis 5, a route proposal 1 — the same in every plan. Plus and Max prices depend on your region and are shown in the App Store and Google Play before you buy.
Do I need to create an account?
Creating an account is required. With an account, your workout data is automatically backed up and synced across devices. You can also connect with friends and share your progress.
What devices are supported?
Gainflow runs on iOS and Android, and there is a full web version you can open in a browser at gainflow.app/app — the same account and the same data on all three.
Workout Tracking
How do I log a workout?
Open the Workouts tab and pick a tile in the Start section: Workout for the gym, home or outdoors, or Activity to record a run, ride or walk with GPS. Add your exercises, enter sets, reps and weights, and the app saves everything and tracks your progress over time.
Can I create custom exercises?
Yes! You can create custom exercises by going to the exercise library in the home screen and typing your exercise name. You can specify the muscle groups and exercise type.
How do I track my personal records?
Gainflow tracks your personal records (PRs) for every exercise automatically — you never mark them yourself. A new record is highlighted right away in your workout summary and in the feed, and each PR adds 15 points toward your level (100 points per level).
Can I edit or delete past workouts?
Yes, you can edit or delete any workout by going to your workout history, selecting the workout, and using the edit or delete options in the menu.
Features & Settings
How do I change the app theme?
Open Settings and flip the Dark mode switch in the Preferences section. It is a toggle on the settings screen, not a separate screen.
Can I export my workout data?
Yes, Gainflow supports exporting your training data. You can also import data from Hevy and Strong.
How do I connect with friends?
Tap the search icon in the app header to look people up by username. Once you follow each other, you can see each other's workouts and progress in the Discover tab. There is no invite-from-contacts feature — Gainflow never reads your phone's address book.
Are there workout templates or programs?
Yes. Gainflow includes dozens of ready-made training plans, sorted by where you train (gym, home, on a trip, outdoors) and by experience level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). You can also build your own plans from scratch.
Privacy & Security
How is my data protected?
We take privacy seriously. Your workout data is stored securely and we never sell your personal information. To run the app we do share data with a small number of processors — analytics, crash reporting, payments and the AI provider — each named in our Privacy Policy along with what they receive.
Can I make my profile private?
Yes — Settings > Account privacy. This hides your workouts, progress charts and comparisons from other users. Your avatar, username, bio, level and the three counters (workouts, followers, following) stay visible either way. You can also set visibility separately for each individual workout.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Delete account. You confirm with a 6-digit code sent to your email — this cannot be skipped. Once confirmed, your profile, workouts and measurements are deleted immediately and cannot be restored. Residual copies in encrypted backups expire on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
What data does Gainflow collect?
The app needs your workouts, progress metrics and basic profile information to work. Everything else is optional and asked for separately: your location while you record a GPS activity, health data from Apple Health or Health Connect, videos you send for technique analysis, and usage analytics. You can decline any of them and keep using the journal.
